Through an ever-increasing demand for artistic experimentation through the field of animation, this report addresses the art of Zoetrope’s; combined with the integration of visual effects. Specifically, explosions of visual effects are a rare article to come across when looking for examples of Zoetropes. Having an interest in effects myself and wanted to push the boundaries a little – I felt it was time to introduce the two to one another. There are many examples of various experimental zoetrope’s all over the internet, yet I’ve still to find one similar to mine in design. I began by focussing on the history of zoetrope’s and wanted to keep it true to form. Experimenting along with 3D printing, I deemed this the most suitable application to create my piece. My outcome is very hopeful, in that with a little more time and patience – I would be able to have a perfectly visually pleasing piece.
